Terry Stoney, lovingly known as Tuffnut since childhood, embarked on her grandest adventure on February 7, 2026. Born in Ogden, Utah, on October 22, 1954, Terry spent her life lighting up the lives of others with her radiant personality and resilient spirit. She could whip up a cheesecake that would make anyone's worries disappear, and her custom denim quilts were personal masterpieces that will continue to wrap her loved ones in warmth and memories.
Terry was outdoorsy and could often be found near the fire or making meals for the hunters. Most days she could be found with a cup, or thermos, of black coffee. Whether she was tending to her tulips, daffodils or irises, cross-stitching intricate designs, or collecting gemstones from around the globe, she approached life with a smile and a sparkle in her eyes. Her "cool" personality was as legendary as her deer stew or pizza soup. She was a woman who stood strong in her beliefs and was never afraid to stand up for what she believed in. She lived her life with the philosophy, "If you can't fight and you can't flee...flow."
Terry's most cherished role was that of a mother and grandmother. She was the wind beneath our wings, always there to guide us, support us, and love us unconditionally. She leaves behind her daughter, Crista Stoney, and her grandchildren, Rianna (Shivon), Isaiah, Gabriel, and Isabella. She is also survived by Brad, her former partner, soulmate and lifelong best friend. She is also survived by her siblings Shelley, Debbie, Johnny, Rich (Pam), Bob (Andrea), and Jenny. As well as many friends who loved her dearly. Terry was preceded in death by her parents, John Vlaanderen and Mary Dean, her great-granddaughter, Dahlya Skye, and her cousin, Nan.
As we continue on without her physical presence, we invite you to share your memories and photos of Terry on her memorial page. Each story, each picture captures a moment of joy, love and laughter that was Terry's life. We look forward to reading your tributes and sharing in the celebration of a life well-lived.
For Terry's celebration of life the family would like you to dress in your favorite denim.
