Shirley Rae Griffiths, 87, passed away Oct. 16, 2017 at Davis Hospital in Layton, UT with family by her side. She was born Feb. 18, 1930 in Bingham Canyon, UT to Dewey and Rachel Ann Brimhall Mayne. She married Ray Griffiths on August 17, 1947 in San Francisco, CA. He preceded her in death on March 16, 1997 after celebrating 49 years together.She grew up in the Copperton/Bingham, UT area where she received her elementary education and attended Bingham High School. She worked for many years for the Sears and Roebuck Company and retired as the Head Cashier. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served as the Ward Librarian for over 20 years as well as the Home-making leader in Relief Society in the Sunset 1st ward.Shirley loved crafting, making cards, and playing the organ. She was always up for a good shopping trip and treasured going out to lunch with the “Out to Lunch Bunch” ladies and “The Gang” friends. She was a very social, loving, and outgoing person. Shirley definitely was a free spirit that loved to live life to the fullest. Shirley relished in spoiling her own grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also quickly became known as “Grandma Shirley” to most everyone she met. Grandma Shirley was famous for sending her homemade cards to family members, gifting holiday trinkets to her grandchildren, and handing out candy to the neighborhood kids.She is survived by her Children: Danny Ray Griffiths (Joyce), David Dewey Griffiths (Karen), Randall Kim Griffiths (Linda), Tamara Griffiths Soal, Cynthia Richards; 13 Grandchildren, 29 Great Grandchildren and Brother: Keith Mayne. She was preceded in death by her Parents, Husband and Siblings: Dewey and Roxey Mayne and Grandchildren: Dillon and Michael Griffiths.Funeral Services will be held Monday, Oct. 23, 2017 at 11:00a.m. at the Sunset 1st Ward LDS Chapel, 2431 North 250 West, Sunset, UT. Viewings will be held at the Church Sunday from 6-8p.m. and Monday from 9:30-10:30a.m. Interment will follow in the Utah Veterans Memorial Park in Bluffdale, UT.
