We remember with a chuckle in our hearts the life of Shawn O'Bray, fondly known as "Uncle Shawn" by everyone who knew him - blood relation or not. Born in Ogden, Utah on April 26, 1968, Uncle Shawn lived, laughed, and loved in his hometown for 57 years. A funny, inspiring, witty, and loving individual, he had a knack for turning mundane moments into memories, and could always be counted on to bring a smile to anyone's face. His infectious humor and quick wit were as refreshing as the cold beer he loved to enjoy while boating and fishing with friends and family.
Uncle Shawn dedicated 20 years of his life working for the IRS, where his unique blend of humor and intelligence earned him several awards. Never one to rest on his laurels, he retired in 2014, ready for a new adventure. He found it in his passion for helping others, particularly those with disabilities. In 2015, he founded BAZWNG (Button and Zip With No Grip), a business that helped bring his dream to fruition. This venture was a testament to Uncle Shawn's inspiring nature and loving heart. As Mark Twain once said, "The secret of success is making your vocation your vacation," and this was certainly true for Uncle Shawn.
Shawn is remembered by his sister, Shannon Larson, and his niece and nephew, Alyssa and Broc Larson. Lovingly referred to as "DaNiece" and "DaNephew". Shawn is also survived by his Great Nephew Barrett Larson. They, along with the rest of us, will miss his inspiring presence and his knack for making every moment count. He was preceded in death by his father, Fred O'Bray, his mother, Cynthia Williams, and his brother, Bret O'Bray. As we remember Shawn, we are reminded of his parting words each time we left his company: "Drive fast and crazy!!"
Indeed, Uncle Shawn lived his life fast and crazy, full of laughter, love, and endless inspiration. His memory will live on in the countless lives he touched and the many people he made smile. Please join us in celebrating the life of Shawn O'Bray by sharing your memories and photos on the memorial page. As we continue to remember and celebrate Uncle Shawn, let's keep driving fast and crazy, just as he would have wanted.
