Ruben Ortiz was born March 29, 1951 in Harlingen Texas to Antonio and Elodia Ortiz. Ruben worked numerous jobs throughout his life, through all that he worked as a field worker for many, many years, before his stroke he was a dedicated volunteer at the YCC in Ogden. Ruben loved the outdoors, he enjoyed camping, taking his kids, nephews and grandkids, hiking, swimming, he also enjoyed barbecues and being around the family. He was also known for his craziness when taking you sleading in the winter, and his outrageous, sarcastic stories. He loved spending time with his grandkids, even after his stroke in 2017 he still managed to play and enjoy every moment he had with each of them. He will always be remembered with a smile on his face, and of course that contagious laugh that we all loved and will miss. He is preceded in death by his parents Antonio and Elodia Ortiz, 5 brothers Fransisco Ortiz, Antonio Jr Ortiz, Raul Ortiz, Roberto Ortiz, Rudy Ortiz, Erasmo Ortiz. 1 sister Sylvia Ortiz, 1 grandson Angel Ortiz, daughter n law Kristina G. Ortiz. He is survived by his children Sylvia Ortiz, Sebastian Ortiz, Maria Ortiz, Ruben Ortiz Jr, Lisa M Ortiz (Rodney Rader) 11 grandkids and 3 great grandchildren, all of Ogden. From a previous marriage he is also survived by 2 children Josie Ortiz and Ruben Ortiz, 6 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Also survived by 1 brother Roy Ortiz, 4 sister’s Rosalinda (Jeremy) Pakiser, Sylvia (Jr) Lopes, Elodia (Antonio) Lopes, Mary Jane Ortiz. Numerous nieces and nephews. Viewing will be held Wednesday July 3, 2019 from 6-7 p.m. and Funeral services will be from 7-8 p.m. at Provident Funeral Home 3800 south Washington Blvd. Graveside services will be held Friday July 5, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at Ogden city cemetery.
