SYRACUSE. Michael Kennett Rice age 66, formerly of Clinton, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017 after a long, courageous battle with Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD).He was born on July 3, 1950 to Robert K. Rice and Betty J. Stratford in Ogden, Utah, and was raised by Boyd Naylor and Betty in Ogden.He was a graduate of Ben Lomond High School and received a B.S. in History from Weber State College and an M.Ed. from Utah State University.Mike served in the LDS North British Mission where he gained a strong testimony of Jesus Christ, which became a strong foundation for the remainder of his life.Michael married Jayna K. Bryan in the Ogden LDS Temple on March 2,1973. He became a father to four children who will miss his jokes, his love of old cars, and his patriotism.He worked for the Utah National Guard for 32 years (145th Field Artillery). After retirement, he worked ten years for the Davis School District as an IT Specialist.He served in a variety of callings in the LDS church – including scouting, Sunday School Teacher, Counselor of the Clinton 1st Ward Bishopric and a faithful Home Teacher.He is survived by his wife Jayna, children: Wendy, Jared (Carrie), David (Shaury), and Matthew (Amber); ten grandchildren: Jonah, Ezra, Hazel, Saul, Weston, Lacie, Georgia, Maggie, Jack, and William; his parents, Betty and Boyd Naylor, and brother, Randy; as well as many nieces and nephews. Mike is preceded in death by his sister, JoAnn Ferre.A viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 14 from 6-8pm at Provident Funeral Home 3800 S Washington Blvd, Ogden UT. An additional viewing will be held on Thursday, June 15 from 9:30-10:30am prior to 11:00am funeral services at the LDS chapel – 2500 South Bluff Rd., Syracuse.
