Mary Kathleen (Kie) Panfiloff of Roy, UT passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family. She fought a long hard battle with cancer and died on Aug 14, 2016. Mary was born March 18, 1927 in Germantown, OH to Samuel (Elmer) and Hazel Grossnickle. Mary was a wife, mother, career woman, grandmother, and great grandmother.She married Verle Ankeny of Vandalia, OH in 1946 and welcomed two children, Teresa McGary and David Ankeny. They later divorced. In 1955 she married Gregory G. Panfiloff and later celebrated a son, Gregory Paul.Mary traveled with her husband to numerous AF assignments, such as, Japan, Castle AFB, CA, Hill AF Base, UT, Holland/Germany and then back to Utah where Mary and her husband retired. She retired in 1983 after dedicating 38 years of working for the Federal Government.Mary loved sports either as a participant or just watching an event. She was a cheerleader in high school, played on a women’s basketball team, an avid bowler, golfer and last but not least, she loved going to Wendover to play the slots. Being persistent, young at heart and quite competitive she was able to enjoy all these things until the ripe old age of 87. Even when she had to walk with a cane, she insisted on continuing her bowling and her trips to Wendover.Getting her family together for holidays was most important to her, even though as some families relocated it was quite a difficult task – but she still tried. She also enjoyed the company of her many friends, going to lunch, retirement events, going on trips or just going to a movie in town.She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, son David Ankeny, sisters: Deloris Grossnickle and Bertha Jane Lovett. She is survived by her daughter Teresa McGary, son Gregory P. Panfiloff, sister Janet Boyer (Jim), 9 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.The family expresses appreciation to Harmony Home Health and Hospice (nurse and staff), and to Visiting Angels for their caring and support during this time.A personal note from son Greg – “Heaven’s bowling team just got better. Love and miss you mom.”Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug 19 at 11 a.m. at Washington Heights Church, 1770 East 6200 South, Ogden, UT. Prior to the service, friends and family may call at the church from 9:30 to 10:30AM. Interment will be at Aultorest Memorial Park, Ogden, UT.
