South Ogden – LaVerne Vera Summers passed away just 2 days following her 83rd birthday April 29, 2015 at the Mountain Ridge Assisted Living surrounded by her family. She was born April 27, 1932 in Carthage, South Dakota to Lorimer Fredrick and Vera Fulton Fischer. She married James R. Summers September 30, 1950 and they celebrated 64 wonderful years together. He passed away July 24, 2013.She was a Cafeteria Supervisor in the School Lunch Program in Blue Island IL. She worked many years preparing lunches and meeting the needs of her students. In her spare time she found joy in sewing, cooking, traveling and spending time with her family.LaVerne was a member of the Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church in St. George for over 20 years. Following the death of her husband in 2013, she moved to South Ogden to be closer to her family. She was a member of the Easter Star for over 50 years and was a founding member of the St. George Chapter.She is survived by her Son: Craig A. Summers (Geniel); 3 grandchildren: Cohen M., Ethan K. and Landon T. Summers and Siblings: Robert L. Fischer (Darlene) and Linda Fischer Brennan.She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister LaVon.The family would like to express appreciation to the Summit Home Health Care and Hospice, specifically Dr. Kathleen DeRemer, Tyler Hunsaker Director, Kenzlee Wooten, RN and Wes Wilde Chaplin, The entire staff at Mountain Ridge Assisted Living, especially to Morgan, director of the Meadows and Deborah the Medical Technician for the tender care they provided to LaVerne.A celebration of her life will be held at the Ogden Buddhist Church 155 North Street, Ogden UT Saturday, May 30, 2015 11:00a.m. Interment of her Cremated remains will take place in August where a small gathering will be held prior at the Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church in St. George, UT.
