Ogden, Utah

In Loving Memory of Kathy Yvette Martinez
Kathy Yvette Martinez, age 63, of Ogden, Utah, passed away on August 2, 2026. She was born on March 9, 1963, in Ogden, to Arthur Florenzo Barela Sr. and Judy Margaret Randall. Born and raised in Ogden, Kathy graduated from Ben Lomond High School, where she was a cheerleader and played softball.
In 1986, Kathy married Davy Ray Martinez Sr. Together they built a loving family and were blessed with 3 children: Marisa Angel Martinez (Jill), Davy Ray Martinez Jr. (Angel), and Richard Paul Martinez.
Kathy spent her life caring for others and built a legacy of love, kindness, and generosity. She was known by so many simply as “Grandma.” She lovingly cared for her grandchildren and welcomed countless others with the same warmth and affection. She had a wonderful sense of humor, a caring heart, and was always willing to help anyone in need, often giving the shirt off her back. She loved having a place of her own, enjoyed watching Facebook reels, and treasured the simple moments spent with the people she loved.
Kathy was survived by her husband, Davy Ray Martinez Sr.; her daughter, Marisa Angel Martinez (Jill); her son, Davy Ray Martinez Jr. (Angel); her brother, Rodney Barela; her sisters, Stephanie Barela (Jed), Angelique Rader, and Savannah Barela (Louise); and her adopted daughters, Marie Chavez, Constance Chavez Robles (Arthur), and Patricia “Patsy” Chavez (Jamie). She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, dozens of adopted grandchildren, and many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Kathy was preceded in death by her beloved son Richard Paul Martinez “Rick Dawg,” her son-in-law Steve “Playboy” Ferguson, her parents Arthur Florenzo Barela Sr. and Judy Margaret Randall, her brother Arthur Barela Jr., her sister Susan Sanchez, and many other dear friends and close family members. If anyone was unintentionally left out, please accept our sincerest apologies. Kathy loved all of her family and friends, and each of you held a special place in her heart.
