Joseph Gaylen Terkleson, 78 passed away on January 22, 2020. He was born June 5, 1941 in Gunnison, Utah to Virginia Cloward and Joseph Charles Arthur (Chuck) Terkleson. He was one of 9 living children.At 17, Joe enlisted in the Army. Honorably discharged in 1961, he returned to Utah. On October 14, 1961 he married Fawn (Sissy) Tafoya. Their son Joseph Derek was born on March 28, 1967. Sissy passed away June 1, 1970. Joe moved the two in with his sister LaRue and her family.On July 20, 1973 Joe married Norma Slater. After settling in Sunset, Utah, Joe, Norma and Joe welcomed Roland Bahe into their family. Joe and Roland became close brothers and later became great older brothers for Tony, Corey and Gina.Joe joined the National Guard and later transferred to Army Reserves. He had a 25 year civilian career at Defense Depot Ogden and was very proud of his military service and his civilian government career.His greatest pleasures were riding motorcycles, traveling the world, riding in sports cars, boxing, watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy regularly with Gina. He took his children on many fun trips. He and Carma enjoyed lots of trips together.Joe is survived by his children: Roland (Cheryl) Bahe, Anthony, Corey and Gina Terkleson; grandchildren: Kyle, Roland Jr., Gregory, Trinitee, Dominick and Slater; brothers: Charles and Arthur (Deborah) Terkelson; sisters: Norma Terkelson, CoaLou (Victor)Garcia, Linda Kay (Gary) Hoenike; longtime friend and companion Carma Hendryx; many special nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Fawn, his son Joe, his sisters Loraine Knox and LaRue Lamb, and his brother Rocky.Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 28, 2020, 11 a.m.Alpine Church, Layton 254 West 2675 North Layton, Utah Interment with military honors will be in the Mount Pleasant, Utah cemetery on January 29, 2020, 12 noon.
