John Clarence Cummins was born on March 11, 1927 in Oakley, ID to Phillip & Verla Cummins. He passed away on Feb 6, 2016 in North Ogden, UT, surrounded by his family.John was a WWII veteran, having joined the Navy at the age of 17. He married Gloria Checketts on Sept 29, 1955 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Gloria passed away in 1973 and John never remarried. John retired from Hill Air Force Base after working there for 36 years. To stay active during his retirement, he worked at Griffins Golden Glow for 15 years.John enjoyed working in the yard, reading magazines and the newspaper and bringing joy to those around him. John had a gift of radiating unconditional love to everyone. He was an angel on this earth, always displaying a positive and happy attitude. For the past 12 years of his life, he lived with his son’s family and played a key role in the children’s lives. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the Ben Lomond 10th Ward.John is survived by his children: Pamala Cummins and Shane (Tracy) Cummins; grandchildren: Jeanne Hellstrom, Joshua Hellstrom, Mandy Moles, Lindsey (Matt) Roberts, Zacary, Brittney, Joshua and Braxton Cummins and many loving siblings, nieces, nephews and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Gloria and siblings: LuWanna, Gary, Garth Cummins, Rozine Hurd and Bonnie McDonald.A viewing will be held Fri., Feb. 12, 2016 from 11am – 12:30pm at the Ben Lomond 10th Ward, 3350 N 1050 E, North Ogden UT with Funeral to follow at 1pm. Interment will follow at Ogden City Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded.
