oAnne Baumberger Gross, 78 of Ontario, Ohio passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on January 18, 2017 in Sunset, Utah.JoAnne was born in Mansfield, Ohio to Lyman Warren Baumberger and Mildred Marie Sheely on December 24, 1938. She attended a small-town school housing all grade levels in Ontario, Ohio. Upon graduation from high school she entered a nursing program. She married the love of her life Jan Thomas Gross on October 5, 1958 at Ontario Methodist Church, Ontario, Ohio. Serving at Tom’s side as he served our country for 22 years in the United States Navy, she traveled all over the world; proving no matter what was happening or where we were home is wherever your family is. She was unable to finish her nursing program, but later in life enrolled and graduated from Bryman’s Medical Assistant Program at the top of her class. It was the perfect career choice for someone who was always caring, nurturing and putting others before herself. She taught us all about inner strength, determination, respect, hard work, kindness, and service to others through her example. JoAnne was an avid reader. Among her talents was a knack for raising house plants, interior decorating, drawing, painting, leather work, and beading. She was especially passionate about card making, memory books and quilting. When at home she loved to sit at the kitchen window watching the birds and flowers in the back yard. She was most happy being out of doors with nature, going camping every chance she could, and felt most at peace up in the mountains. She wrote in her journal “I see the forest as God’s temple. It’s where I feel his presence the most”.JoAnne is survived by her husband Jan “Tom” Gross; Two daughters Cynthia Marie Gross Westbroek (Floyd “Scott”) and Deborah Kay Gross Zuurbier (Hendricus “Henk” Johannes); Grandchildren Kyle Thomas Westbroek (Diane), Amanda Westbroek, Tyler Zuurbier, Nicholas Zuurbier; Great grandchildren Roxanne Asay, Christopher Sherman, Ryan Westbroek, Wyatt Holliday and Ryker Westbroek.
