Roy – Jay Robert Gavin, 89, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family following an extended illness on December 12, 2015. He was born March 8, 1926 in Abraham, Utah to William Irvin and Veda Rose Gavin.He married the love of his life Donna M. Wistisen on October 31, 1947. To this union they were blessed with 4 children: Debbie, Kerry (Ann), Kim, and Tim (Dian).Jay proudly served his country during WW II in the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in February of 1946.He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He loved drafting for Grating Systems, Inc. He was very skilled in his profession and was known as the best in the state of Utah prior to his retirement in 2008.Jay is survived by his wife of 68 years, Donna; four children; 1 sister, Jean; 4 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Keith and sister Eleanor.The family wishes to extend their sincere appreciation and thanks for the overwhelming care and support given to Jay and family from Hearts for Hospice and Home care and special friend Bruce.Family suggests donations to the charity of your choice.A viewing will be held Thursday, December 17, 2015 from 6-8p.m. at the Municipal Park Ward, 5930 South 2200 West Roy, UT 84067. Graveside services will be held at the Clinton City Cemetery, Friday at 2:00 p.m.
