Janice Ruth Cone Gilbert Obituary (1934 - 2016)

South Ogden – Janice Ruth Gilbert, 81, passed away March 3, 2016 in Ogden, UT with her family by her side. She was born August 15, 1934 in Salt Lake City along with her identical twin sister Janet to Joseph Roy and Ruth Elizabeth Andersen Cone. She married James Edward Gilbert in Salt Lake City on August 9, 1955.She grew up in Salt Lake City where she attended Salt Lake Schools and graduated with the class of 1952 from West High School. She furthered her education by attending the University of Utah and then to Weber State University where she received a Bachelor’s Degree with honors in Social Work.Janice worked for many years for the State of Utah in the Division of Family Services where she worked with and served many families.She loved to play Bridge and work Crossword Puzzles and loved to watch Tennis. She was an avid reader and well versed in History, Geology, English and Art. She was an accomplished artist in pastels, oil and charcoal sketching. She enjoyed traveling and had visited Germany, Egypt, Panama and Mexico. She attended annually the Shakespearean Festival in Cedar City and the Park City Art Festival.Janice is survived by her Daughters: Laurie Janell Green and Shaun Rachelle Gilbert; Grandson: Mik Green and Siblings: Janet Peck and Barbara Phibbs.At her request a private family gathering will be held.
