James Russell Nebeker 71, of Washington Terrace, UT passed away peacefully with his family by his side Wednesday, October 7, 2015 of natural causes. He was born February 21, 1944 in Pocatello, ID to Jim and Lucille Nebeker. He graduated from Ben Lomond High School in 1962 and later attended Weber State College.He married Roxsan on October 30, 1970 in Ogden, UT. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves, graduated from the police academy and was a police officer for Ogden and Riverdale City Police Departments. Russ retired from Southern Pacific Railroad, then worked at Clinton Walmart where he truly loved working with people and helping others.Russ was a devout Christian and a member of Summit Chapel Church with a strong sense of family values and a relentless commitment to Kasey, Kyler and his nieces and nephews.He spent his free time hosting family functions and was an avid reader. He was an expert at tying flies which he gave to many of his friends. He also enjoyed fly fishing, golfing, football and maintaining friendships with his neighbors and others in the community.Russ is survived by his wife and one daughter, Stephanie (Steve) Murphy; brothers and sisters in law, Pat (Mike) Rose, Toby Gallegos, Louise Henderson, Sarah Gallegos, George (Elaine) Gallegos, Chris Siegel; Four grandchildren; Kasey, Kyler, Keegan, Korbin; one great grandchild, his sweet Phoenix. He was preceded in death by his parents, mother in law Virginia, father in law Manuel Montoya, brothers in law; Fred C Gallegos, Danny O Gallegos and niece Jessica Lucero.Roxsan would like to thank the nurses and CNA’s who attended to Russ with special thanks to Mary Parker and IHC Hospice. She would also like to thank Patsy, Cyndie, Sarah, Louise and Chris for their support during Russ’s illness.Memorial services will be held Wednesday October 14, 2015 at 6:30pm. Summit Chapel Church 585 39th Street, Ogden, UT.In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to help with expenses.
