Henry William Mead, 65, passed away at his home February 23, 2017 in Layton, Utah with family at his side. He was born March 31, 1951 in Pueblo, Colorado to David Crockett Mead and Verna Louise LeFevre. He married Barbara Mae Huff February 14, 1975 in Dillion, South Carolina and were later sealed in the Denver Colorado LDS Temple.He was raised in Pueblo and Rye, Colorado where he attended his elementary education and graduated from Central High School. He also attended Fayetteville Technical Institute in North Carolina where he received his training to be a welder, machinist and tool and die maker. He worked for Martin Marietta Aero Space in Florida and Hill Air Force Base where he used his skills to accomplish his assigned tasks.Henry proudly served his country by enlisting in the Army and became a member of The Green Berets. He enjoyed furthering his army skills by developing his own style of Martial Arts and was a Black Belt in Tae Kwan Do.Henry was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in the sports program, ward mission leader, genealogy and family history program, and scouting. He loved to help and serve others and was a loyal friend to many. He enjoyed spending time in the outdoors, camping and hiking. He loved his family and children very much.He is survived by his Wife: Barbara; Mother: Verna; Children: Kyle Matthew Mead (Constance), Leah Angelina Mead (Chris); grandchildren Xavier, Ezekiel, and Zachias; Brothers: Timothy Mead (Cheri), Darryl Mead, James Mead (Marilee); Sisters: Jessie Turner (Larry) and Abby Gooch (Albert). He was preceded in death by his Father.The family would like to thank CNS Hospice, Dr. Carl Gray and staff and family and friends for their love and support and for their care of Henry.Graveside Services will follow at 12:00 Noon at Aultorest Memorial Park, 836 36th St., Ogden, UT.
