Florence Sophie Rykhus, 93 passed away in Ogden, UT on January 17, 2017 with family by her side. She was born in Bayonne, NJ on November 14, 1923 to Dominic and Anna Povilius Gaupsas. She married August Albert Beisigl and he preceded her in death. She married Robert Rykhus and they later divorced.She grew up in Bayonne, NJ where she received her Elementary and High School education and graduated with a Nursing Degree from Bayonne Hospital School of Nursing. She started her Nursing Career in Bayonne, NJ and then relocated to San Diego, CA in the 60’s and resided there until she moved to Ogden, UT to be with family to care for her.Florence practiced nursing all over the San Diego area at many of the hospitals and surgical units and nursing homes. Nursing and caring for others was the most important thing in her life.She was an avid reader and would often read a book a day. She enjoyed going for a drive and long walks. She loved her pet dogs and cats and loved to go out to lake or other nature spots to feed the animals. She was a very independent person and was strong willed and seemed to always be ahead of her time. She was evolving and growing all the time. She was a grateful person and fun to be around.She is survived by 3 Nephews: Bill Gaupsas, Jim Gaupsas (Jackie), Richard Gaupsas; Cousins: Pam Chapman (John) and Anita Hajos. She was preceded in death by her Husband August and siblings Walter Gaupsas and Helen Gaupsas.The family would like to thanks Encompass Home Health Care and Hospice, especially Tammy, Angie, Miller, Camille and Jenna for all the love and care provided to Florence.
