Farrell Lynn Olsen

Farrell Lynn Olsen, 79 of Ogden Utah passed peacefully on Saturday, September 19, 2026 surrounded by family. He was born September 1st, 1947 to Harold Hugo and Helen Child Olsen.

He had a sweet sense of humor and used it all the way to the end. His last few days were full of love and humor. He will be missed by many.

Farrell grew up in Morgan County Utah where he graduated high school and served an LDS mission to Norway. When he returned he met the love of his life, Hyla Rae Fromm. They married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on March 19, 1970.

He loved the church and had many callings through the years. I have no doubt that he enjoyed the musical callings the most. After he had his stroke in 2016, he was unable to serve in the same capacity and was given the unofficial calling of ward greeter in both his ward and the Spanish ward. He was always writing music. He played the guitar and piano and wrote and published an album.

He graduated from Weber State University with a Bachelors in Foreign Language where he majored in French and minored in Spanish.

Dad had many jobs throughout his life, but I'm certain that his favorites were being a husband, father and grandfather. Everyone who knew him loved him.

He was proceeded in death by both parents, Leo Gordon Olsen (brother), Josephine Rae Mitchell (sister) and Judy Diane Barker (sister).

He is survived by his beloved wife, Hyla; Kim (Karen) Olsen (brother), children; Parry (Lorie) Olsen, Todd Olsen, Heather (Dorian) Vandegrift, Haylee (Nathan) Rogers, Tiffany (James) Dabb and Ryan Olsen, twenty-two grand children and seven great grandchildren.

There will be a viewing in his honor on Friday, 09/25/2026 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at 300 Iowa Avenue, Ogden UT, 84404.

On Saturday 09/26/2026 there will be a viewing from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. followed by a family prayer. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Interment at Milton Cemetery (Morgan Utah).
