Pleasant View – Emery Kent Simmons, 76, is moving on to the “Big Rodeo.” He was born in Rupert, ID to John Emery and Marion Olsen Simmons. He graduated Weber High School where his passion for Basketball and Football led to a scholarship at Weber State College. Kent dedicated much of his life to his love for Rodeo traveling the circuit competing in Steer Wrestling and Team Roping. He was a true all around Cowboy.Kent had marriages to Annie Jean Kemp, Joleen Bailey, and Linda Call. Pamela Jean was brought into the world with Annie, and Nicole Summer was born during his marriage to Joleen. He was also father to Annie’s two children John and Debbie; Joleen’s two children Tony and Sunny; as well as Linda’s two children Brian and Monica.Kent proudly served the United States Army during the Korean War. He later owned and operated a western store: “The Horse House.” He was also a very successful salesman for the company Straight Arrow. Kent was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.Kent is survived by two sisters: Vernice Warren and Beverly Ellison; all of his children; 12 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and shared a special bond with Sunny, Scotty, Summer, Kaden, Tessla, and Drae. He was preceded in death by his parents and one of his dearest friend Tip.Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Affordable Funeral and Cremation Solutions 3800 South Washington, Ogden, UT. A viewing will be held prior to the services from 10:00-11:00a.m. Interment will follow at the Syracuse Cemetery where Military Honors will be accorded.The family would like to express appreciation to Canyon Hospice especially to Anna and Vicky and also Heritage Park for their care of Kent.Family request donations be made to the Funeral Home to help with expenses.
